In addition to deep subsurface explorations, we provide several field exploration services that are conducted by visual inspection and portable equipment.
Field Explorations
- Hand Borings / Dynamic Cone Penetration Testing
- Wenner Soil Resistivity Testing
- Site Reconnaissance
- Test Pit Observations
Hand Borings / Dynamic Cone Penetration Testing
Hand borings with dynamic cone penetration testing can be performed in confined or limited access locations.
Dynamic Cone Penetration Testing is performed in accordance with ASTM STP 399 / D6951.
Dynamic Cone Penetration Testing is performed in accordance with ASTM STP 399 / D6951.
Wenner Soil Resistivity Testing
Wenner Soil Resistivity Testing is performed using the Wenner 4-Point Method with a Miller 400A meter in accordance with ASTM G57-06.
Site Reconnaissance
Site reconnaissance is performed to evaluate the subgrade at remote and/or limited access sites. Soil and rock classification is provided by visual inspection in accordance with ASTM standards.
Test Pit Observations
Test pits provide general information about the subgrade of a site. They are generally less expensive and faster than conventional test boring explorations, but provide less information about soil parameters. Test pits are useful for sites with large, open, and undeveloped areas.
