Test pits can be excavated up to depths of 10 feet below ground surface with our excavator to investigate
subsurface conditions for geotechnical, environmental, and/or hydrogeologic explorations.

Summit Geoengineering Services can perform test pit explorations utilizing our Kubota KX040 rubber track excavator. Additionally, trail clearing and site preparation can be performed to permit access with our drilling equipment. The Kubota KX040 is equipped with a fully enclosed operator cab, hydraulic angle blade, and hydraulic bucket thumb. The Kubota is a rubber track machine capable of remote site access with low ground pressure.
Test pits provide general information about the subgrade of a site. They are generally less expensive and faster than conventional test boring explorations, but provide less information about soil parameters. Test pits are useful for sites with large, open, and undeveloped areas.
