    • Re-development of a 2.3 acre paved site with vacant building planned for demolition
    • Construction of new two-story, 25,000-square-foot police station and impound garage
  • Project Challenges / Innovation:
    • SGS won the competitive bid and met City of Augusta guidelines for the project
    • Adapted to evolving project design features and building layouts
    • Geotechnical considerations included buried pockets of miscellaneous fill/debris, varying soils across the site, large slope at the rear of property, raising grade above Kennebec River flood design elevation, numerous buried utilities including large sewer main, and existing building obstructing a large portion of the new building footprint
    • Successfully provided in-house geotechnical explorations, lab testing, and consulting on the project and met the client’s timeline
