    • A combination of test borings with SPT sampling and CPT were used to investigate subsurface conditions

  • Project Summary:
    • The building is a 32.500 square foot, 3-story structure with a partial basement foundation
    • Site design included short retaining walls and a porous pavement section for stormwater infiltration
  • Project Challenges / Innovation:
    • Geotechnical challenges included soft marine deposits, miscellaneous fill with stumps and organics, and seasonally perched groundwater
    • Project included a comprehensive subgrade inspection program for field determination and implementation of suitable stabilization methods
    • Stabilization methods selected included proof rolling, geotextile and/or crushed stone improvement, dewatering, and over-excavation
