LINCOLN ACADEMY -- TECHNOLOGY CENTER & DORMITORY

    • Geotechnical consulting
    • A combination of test borings with SPT sampling and seismic cone penetration tests (CPT)
  • Project Summary:
    • The technology center is a single-story building with a footprint of 7,000 square feet, constructed on a hillside requiring a significant bedrock cut
    • The dormitory is a 3-story building with a footprint of 11,000 square feet and a full basement foundation
  • Project Challenges / Innovation:
    • Bedrock was processed onsite for reuse as engineered fill; additional quantities were trucked offsite
    • The dormitory was underlain by miscellaneous fill and marine deposits requiring over-excavation and stabilization with geotextile and crushed stone
    • Subgrade inspections were performed during construction to verify rock competency for ledge pinning of the foundation for the technology center and for subgrade stabilization used for the dormitory
