    • Subsurface conditions were explored using test borings with SPT split spoon sampling and rock coring
  • Project Summary:
    • A new school was designed to replace the existing school, the technology center is a two-story building structure with a footprint of 90,000 square feet
    • Construction included up to 10 feet of fill, with a new perimeter access road and parking lot
  • Project Challenges / Innovation:
    • The building was underlain by miscellaneous fill and marine deposits overlying bedrock
    • In addition to its geotechnical investigation, SGS conducted a geothermal well study for a planned geothermal heating system
    • The geothermal investigation included the installation of a 420-foot-deep test well, estimates of groundwater yield potential, chloride testing, and subsequent geothermal conductivity testing
