- The 17,000 square foot building included some demolition and some renovation, along with a new expansion
- Project Challenges / Innovation:
- Geotechnical challenges included soft clay marine deposits)
- Environmental challenges include the presence of coal ash and miscellaneous fill explored as part of a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)
- The subsurface investigation was performed jointly for both the geotechnical and environmental investigation saving overall time and cost to the project
- SGS conducted subgrade inspections during construction to evaluate suitability of subsoils and look for environmentally impacted miscellaneous fill, which was reused during construction
