- Geotechnical consulting for new construction on a vacant site.
- Investigated subsurface conditions using a combination of test borings and seismic cone penetration tests (SCPTµ) using SGS’s AMS PowerProbe© 9500 VTR.
- Project Summary:
- New dealership building has a 25,000 ft2 footprint with service bays, show rooms, and office space.
- Additional site development included expansive parking for vehicle inventory, access drives, and stormwater structures.
- Project Challenges / Innovation:
- Geotechnical challenges included deep marine deposits (soft clay).
- The use of SCPTµ provided site specific shear wave velocity testing for improved earthquake seismic design and detailed profiling of the soft clay for estimating rate and time of consolidation settlement from imported site fill to achieve the necessary final grade for the site.
